Visa Application Procedure

To apply for a Djibouti visa at the Djiboutian Embassy in Runda, Nairobi, you’ll need to gather the required documents, complete the application form, and submit it along with the necessary fees. Visas are processed within 48 working hours, though processing times may vary. 

1. Gather Required Documents:

  • Original passport with at least six months validity beyond the intended stay.
  • A passport-size photograph.
  • A copy of the passport’s biodata page.
  • A duly filled and signed application form.
  • An invitation letter or travel order justifying your visit to Djibouti.
  • If traveling for business, a letter of recommendation from your company.
  • A hotel reservation.
  • A flight booking.
  • A yellow fever certificate.
  • The exact visa fee amount in USD (no change given).

2. Submit the Application:

  • Non-diplomatic applicants must visit the embassy in person.
  • Submission is available Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm and Friday from 9 am to 12 pm.

3. Visa Processing and Collection:

  • Visas are typically processed within 48 working hours, but processing time can extend up to two weeks. 
  • You can collect your visa on Monday to Thursday from 12 pm to 4 pm and Friday from 12 pm to 2 pm. 

4. Considerations:

  • The embassy may require additional documents depending on the purpose of your visit. 
  • It’s advisable to check the embassy’s website or contact them directly for the most up-to-date requirements and procedures. 

Laissez-Passer and Birth Certificate

A. Requirements for a Laissez-Passer

1. A Djibouti Identity card.
2. Copy of the passport.
3. Police abstract in case of a lost document
4. For the new born, a copy of the birth certificate.
5. Two passport photos.

B. Requirements for a Birth Certificate

1. One of the parents must be a Djibouti national.
2. Copy of the passport and Identity card of that parent.
3. Copy of the hospital notification.
4. One passport photo.

N.B.

– Visas are applied, paid and acquired physically from the Djibouti embassy in Nairobi, not online.

– The embassy in Nairobi is not issuing passports.
